Image alignment

I added an image onto a page and try to align it with the text. However the spacing is all off. If I align it right or left, the first few lines of text are actually above the image. I can added a few blank lines to get the text to line up properly with the image, but then the entire body of content is shifted down several lines and it adds too much white space above the image text. How can I fix this? First time I’ve encountered this with a theme.
